privacy policy
the short version: your data is yours. it exists so the app works, it's never sold, and there are no ads.
effective october 26, 2026
bunchberry is a brady byte — an app made by brady bytes, a one-person software studio (one man, one machine). it has two sides: a Bunch for home and a Hive for work. here's the longer version of how your data is handled.
what the app stores
- account basics — your email address and sign-in credentials, the display name and member color you choose, and (in a Hive) your full name and an optional profile photo. you can also add a phone number and email to your crew contact card; those are visible to the other members of that Hive.
- your Bunch's shared content — grocery lists and items, store setups and prices, chores and allowance entries, checklists, Bunch chat messages, and Fridge notes with any photos, PDFs, or links you attach. members of your Bunch (up to 10 people) can see this, because sharing it is the whole point of the app.
- your Hive's shared content — checklists, schedules, timecards (punch times, positions, and notes), chat messages and photos, notes-board pages, documents you upload, and the gear list. this is visible to the crew of that Hive. the Hive's Lead can edit crew schedules and timecards and close out a week.
- private rooms — direct messages and group rooms inside a Bunch or Hive are visible only to the people in them.
- device notification tokens — if you allow notifications, an identifier for your device is stored so the app can send you push notifications.
where it lives, and who else touches it
bunchberry stores data with Google Firebase, which handles sign-in, databases, push notifications, and syncing between devices. data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). content is stored in the cloud so it can sync; it is not end-to-end encrypted. Firebase's own practices are described in Google's Firebase privacy documentation.
push notifications are delivered through Apple's and Google's notification services. if you use the GIF picker in chat, the words you search for are sent to GIPHY to fetch results, and the GIF you choose is shared as a link in the conversation. nothing else is sent to GIPHY.
what we don't do
- we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
- we don't show ads or share your data with advertisers.
- we don't collect more than the app needs to function.
this website
if you enter your email in the "notify me" form on the bunchberry page, it's stored securely and used for exactly one thing: telling you when bunchberry launches. no newsletters, no sharing. ask any time to have it removed.
deleting your data
email brady@bradybytes.com from the account you'd like removed and your account and its data will be deleted promptly. content you shared with a Bunch or Hive (like grocery items, messages, or checklist entries) may remain visible to the remaining members after you leave. if the last member of a Bunch or Hive leaves, that Bunch or Hive can be deleted along with its content.
children
the Bunch is a family app, and kids may use it as members of a family's Bunch under a parent or guardian's supervision. accounts and Bunches are created and managed by adults. the Hive is a workplace tool and is not intended for children.
changes
if this policy changes in a meaningful way, the date above will be updated and significant changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
